Twelve artists map out their
next steps. Transit refers to their processes of working,
both individually and in tandem, and to the present
space that fleetingly they cohabit. Glass doors separate
their work from that of the building contractors working
to complete the changes to the UWE's Art Media and Design
campus at Bower Ashton. Both are 'camped out' around
the former main entrance to the site, a reminder of
the institution's prior manifestations.
The group are postgraduate students at differing stages
of MA by Project based at Bower Ashton campus, with
practices as diverse as each artist’s background.
No single theme was initially agreed upon, save notions
bound up in the word 'transit' which have caught the
interest of each member,
and so given the show its title.
